Release:

Human Capital Partners (HCP) Managing Director, Vanessa Moriel, participated in a panel discussion titled “Becoming a Benchmark of Environment Protection in the Automotive Industry” as part of the 2nd Automobil Produktion China Congress held in the margin of the 2014 Guangzhou International Automobile Exhibition. Discussion by the panel centred around the pressure to innovate in the automotive industry as both Chinese and foreign OEM are increasingly pursuing research and development into powertrain engines, emission control, weight reduction, fuel efficiency, and other systems and components in China.

“Being asked to participate in an international supplier’s panel discussion is an honour for both me and Human Capital Partners,” commented Ms. Moriel following the discussion. “Our knowledge of the industry comes as a result of our long-term involvement in the Asian market. We have strong relationships with key people in the regional and global automotive sector which provides us with unique and valuable insight into ongoing trends and opportunities.”

Automotive companies in China are working to make conventional vehicles more fuel efficient whilst experimenting and innovating with electric and hybrid vehicles. At the same time, they are working to make transport safer and more connected with the use of cutting-edge technologies. Ms. Moriel reported that Chinese passenger OEMs are increasingly investing in R&D and growing their innovation teams to build key automotive systems from scratch. Foreign OEMs are similarly realizing the importance of developing in China for China, meaning that the local market has seen rising demand for best in class engineering talent from all over the world.

China’s second largest automotive exhibition, the Guangzhou auto show has in recent years gained in global importance as more and more carmakers have chosen to give new models world premieres at the show. This year saw a continuation of this trend with Mercedes-Benz choosing Guangzhou to resurrect its Maybach brand, Ford reviving its Escort model and showing its Everest full-size SUV, and  Qoros unveiling its Qoros 3 City SUV.
